Putting an end to your smoking habit is never easy, even if you use nicotine patches and / or nicotine gum. Your subconscious mind is a sponge waiting to absorb whatever you give it. It does not recognize the distinction between reality and imagination. Therefore, if you can get past the locked gates of your conscious mind to your subconscious mind, you can feed the subconscious “imagined reality.” So, if you are able to imagine yourself as a non-smoker, your subconscious mind is going to accept that as reality.

If you want access to your subconscious mind then you need a licensed hypnotherapist to guide you by making using of specific imagery and words. It is not something that you can really do on yourself, though some people do manage to quit smoking by just using tapes and DVDs. With the right hypnotherapist, quitting smoking is not easy as such, but it is definitely achievable, and much easier than using will power alone.
